IBIS Sports & Social Club in Kendal was submerged in over 1 metre of water during the Cumbria floods that Storm Desmond brought. The club has been running for 8 years and has been reduced to a building shell from what was a viable community asset. The club was used by many groups from 3 year olds learning to dance to providing a social hub for the many sports teams it supports.
The local community has had its heart ripped from it in the floods. Currently all surrounding housing is uninhabitable due to flood damage but people will be back to the homes they love in good time. The aim for the Sports Club is to survive and rebuild itself to be where it belongs at the centre of the community once again.
The money will be spent on returning the club back to its pre-flooding state and return it back to the community. Initially contractors are needed immediately to begin the drying process and reduce the impact of the flooding and then the cosmetic stuff to return the club to it’s former glory.
Epic Kidz have donated £500 towards the clubs target of £5000 so that when the local residents can return to live in their homes, they have somewhere where their children can go to learn how to dance and to play sport once again. If anyone would like to donate to support the social club, you can do so via their Just Giving page https://crowdfunding.justgiving.com/Ibisclubkendal.
