Niamha Albones kicks of the CX season with a win

Back in September 2015 the Dave Hitchen Fund gave a grant to 12 year old Niamha Albones so that she could get a cyclocross bike ready for the 2015 winter league. Niamha had already proven herself a champion on the road and track and was riding for Liverpool Century.

Niamhniamhaa is still going from strength to strength and has opened the new cyclocross season with a win at Hoghton Tower last weekend. The course was brutal and unforgiving. The race was tough but Niamha worked hard. Despite coming off on a tarmac corner, she swiftly remounted still managed to finish 1st girl in the under 14 category.

Niamha is definitely one to watch for the future!

The Dave Hitchen Fund was established to help support talented athletes within the North West with the potential to compete at an elite level in their chosen sport. In particular, the fund supports those families who do not have sufficient income to cover things like event entries, race equipment, travel expenses, training costs etc.
