We first came across Amy Gornall (big sister to Rhiannon from our blog last week) last year. She had been racing on the road for 6 years and had been North West Regional Champion twice as well as representing the North West & Wales. The Dave Hitchen Fund provided Amy with a grant to help towards her travel costs for the upcoming year so that she could continue to race up and down the country and gain enough experience to eventually be able to race abroad.
Amy’s 2016 season started well with some good results but unfortunately it was soon overshadowed by injury. Eventually, by September, she was back on the road to recovery and by Christmas she was back training with endless sessions in the gym.
Amy is now on her 7th season of racing and is riding for Podium Ambition. She is back racing again and wants to be able to race on the continent this year to gain experience riding in the next tier up from National level in the UK. She hopes to ride more races in the European circuit, as well as to perform well in the National Series races.
The Dave Hitchen Fund has given Amy a £500 grant to assist with the ever increasing travel costs of getting up and down the country racing as well as abroad on the European circuit.
