Epic Kidz Sponsor TENW Junior Tri Series

The Triathlon England North West Junior Tri Series is a series packed full of top quality multi sport events such as triathlons, aquathlons & duathlons and is open to anyone aged from 9 to 19, who holds a Triathlon England membership. The NW Junior Series is the breeding ground for our future champions and well supported by all NW clubs.image

Unfortunately the regional funding has been cut for the upcoming 2018 season, which is required to run the series successfully. Epic Events / Epic Kidz have stepped in to support the series and has made a £2000 donation. This donation will be used to fund the events in the series and also the annual presentation night.

Epic Kidz is committed to supporting youngsters in the region and we’re thankful of the opportunity to support such a great series. There are countless volunteers within the NW clubs who make this series happen and their role is critical for triathlon development in the region. We very much look forward to watching the juniors perform over the next year.

If you have any children interested in being involved in the TENW Tri Series you can find more information and contact details HERE

£500 to help Leigh RUFC Dragons “Smash The Aussies”

Leigh Rugby

Leigh RUFC U15s Dragons epitomise teamwork and dedication, whilst thoroughly enjoying playing and training for the game. Several of the players have been with the squad since the age of 5 and recent successes, including a promotion into Pool A of the Lancashire Cup after a thrilling cup final last year, have seen the squad swell to 22 players, with new players always being welcomed to the team and throughout all school age groups.

It seemed like a pipedream to the Dragons 4 years ago when an “Austrailia Tour” was first suggested but next year the team’s Australia Tour will finally become a reality. The Dragons will test themselves against the best of local Australian teams, as well as staying together for 3 weeks in a “pro style” training camp on the Gold Coast with 2 training sessions per day and 5 competitive fixtures. A strong and committed coaching team of 6 are also funding themselves to accompany the team, which includes former players Scott Martin (Leigh, Salford, Sheffield Eagles, Rochdale) and Gary Monaghan (Preston Grasshoppers).

To fund this trip of a lifetime, the squad have been very busy, tirelessly fundraising for 4 years through many different events. Next year they plan to do a sponsored Yorkshire 3 Peaks Challenge as their final fundraiser.

Epic Kidz has donated £500 to the Dragons to help the team buy some much needed training kit to help them “smash the Aussies”!

£250 to Black Combe Runners Juniors

The Montane Lakeland 100 competitors raise thousands of pounds for the Epic Kidz charity. Every July runners take part in this iconic event by completing either 50 or 100 (105) miles around the Lake District. Along the way the runners pass through 14 checkpoints manned entirely by volunteers. We have asked all of the checkpoint owners & managers from the 2017 event to nominate a group or charity to receive an Epic Kidz donation. Over the next few months we will be blogging about all the donations made to all the good causes nominated by our Lakeland 100 family.

Last week we introduced the Seathwaite checkpoint and the first part of their donation. Their second nomination is the Black Combe Runners (Juniors). BC runners a

The Black Combe Runners have been around since the 80s however the junior section was set up in 2017. The club coaches have almost finished obtaining their qualifications to enable them to provide full training and it is the aim of the club to get sessions up and running by the new year. Once they have their sessions up and running, the club will then be able to promote themselves outside of its current members.

The juniors section of the club accepts anyone up to the age of 18. Their youngest runner is just 1 year old and has already completed a 1 mile race! The club has also had members racing at the English Schools Fell Running Championships and they hope to fly their colours at more races in the future.

Epic Kidz has donated £250 on behalf of the Seathwaite Checkpoint owners which will go towards training for another Leader and equipment to be used in training sessions for the juniors.
